Reading the results

Rows distinguish installations or assessed areas, locations with uncertain equipment status, and aggregate findings. Availability, staff knowledge and listening checks do not establish measured field strength. Grouped results overlap some individual rows, and methods differ: do not pool counts or failure percentages. Reported repairs do not establish a measured retest. Codebook

result_id

Unique source-based key and installation, area or aggregate suffix. Parliament suffixes match Appendix A references.

row_scope

installation_or_area, location_check for uncertain equipment status, or aggregate when only grouped evidence is available.

site

Named installation/location or the source's group description. Unnamed rooms stay unnamed.

site_type

Venue setting, such as hospital reception, bus or theatre.

country

Source-supported location, with UK nation where available. Author affiliations do not establish a test site's country.

year

Year of the check only, or not reported. 2020; 2021 denotes RiDC's two fieldwork periods, not two checks of each installation.

source_year

Library publication year; never silently substituted for the check year.

checked

Quantities or features actually measured or examined. Availability, signs and staff knowledge are distinguished from operation.

result

Source-attributed outcome, including numerical values, faults and reported repairs. A repair account does not imply a measured retest.

method

meter, listening, meter and listening, inspection/interview, measurement reported, or not reported. The fifth value means measurements are described but equipment/procedure details are insufficient to classify further.

method_detail

Equipment, procedure and exact dates where stated. No meter or listening method is inferred merely from the word check.

checker_type

Actual checker role where known; combined roles use /. It is separate from funding and from the organisation publishing the account.

checker

Named checker or team; where only the reporting author is known, the cell says so.

sample

Area, venue, report, measurement-point or participant denominator with its unit preserved. These units are not interchangeable.

source_id

Library source identifiers supporting the row, separated by semicolons. Feature-specific and supporting-source columns retain their more precise roles.

source_locator

Original page, section, table or model entry supporting the row; source names identify locations when several originals are used.

funding_detail

Funding and producer context retained from the earlier compilation; the funding column carries the current source-record labels.

limitations

Row-specific interpretation limits and source-record reading limits. Missing information is not reported, never an inferred zero.

funding

Source-record funding labels. With multiple primary sources, each label is followed by its source id in brackets. Funding detail remains in funding_detail where supplied by the earlier compilation.

Compilation and interpretation

loop-tests.csv was compiled on 2026-10-13 from 17 existing library records and their archived originals. It contains 60 rows: 48 individual installations or assessed areas, three checked locations where equipment status was uncertain, and nine explicitly labelled aggregate findings.

The normal unit is one installation or assessed area, combining its checks in one row. Parliament House has 31 area rows keyed to the audit's A1-A31 references; these are not asserted to be 31 electrically separate systems. Where a source supplies only grouped findings, an aggregate row preserves that evidence without inventing individual installations. Filter row_scope before analysing individual results. The Scottish total includes its three named rows, and Southampton's overall shop audit includes its named shop examples. Neither totals nor failure percentages should be pooled across these overlapping rows or across unlike methods. (Ciolek and Covington 2008; Association of Leading Visitor… 2013; Lets Loop Southampton and Healthwatch… 2018; Disability News Service 2009; CHHA National 2023)

The file is UTF-8, comma-delimited, with a header, quoted fields and LF line endings. Import as text to preserve qualifiers and multiple years. not reported denotes missing information, never zero. There are no formulas, converted units or graph-digitised point estimates. Rows sort by source id and result id, with numeric area suffixes in numerical order.

Parliament's coverage categories are the audit authors' classifications after amplifier adjustment, not complete tests of every standard parameter. The Cabinet Room's highest Table 1 grade is retained with its partial-test qualification. Hospital listening quality and bus interference observations are not substituted for field-strength measurements. Hackney and Eastbourne rows describe availability and staff procedures, without proving working audio. Eastbourne's staff-knowledge narrative conflicts with its table; the row preserves that uncertainty. The Southampton therapies loop was not visited and is excluded from the check rows. C6 and C7 have no separately reported listening result, and the chapel's check was separate from the dated main visit. (Ciolek and Covington 2008; Healthwatch Cornwall 2015; London Assembly Transport Committee 2016; Healthwatch Hackney 2023; Healthwatch East Sussex 2024; Dymond HF 2017)

The q26 research report lists coverage decisions, archive provenance, uncertainties and existing-record concerns. Updating this table requires re-reading the original, retaining the row's unit and method, and distinguishing an actual retest from a later publication or repair claim.

Change log

  • 2026-10-13: Migrated 60 rows with codebook and source provenance into the data section.
  • 2026-10-14: Declared the existing row key for stable links from questions; row values are unchanged.
  • 2026-10-14: Corrected the Alfakir row’s location limit and added the Discussion and session-count locators after an archive audit.
