Summary
Listen Technologies' App Store listing for ListenWIFI, the app through which listeners hear a ListenWIFI or Listen Everywhere venue's audio on their own iPhone or iPad.
Key findings
- Says the phone must be connected to the venue Wi-Fi network where the system is installed, and recommends wired headphones or neck loops "to avoid audio delay" from Bluetooth products. It lists use with headphones, neck loops or hearing aids, channel QR codes, and automatic channel changes from location beacons.
- Requires iOS 11.0 or later. The privacy label, which the developer writes and Apple has not verified, states that usage data may be used to track users across other companies' apps and websites, and that location (precise and coarse) and usage data may be collected without being linked to the user's identity; the purposes listed include product personalisation and advertising data.
- Notes that the app may use location even when it is not open, which can decrease battery life.
- The version history records fixes for iPhone 14 models that could not stream (May 2023), for connecting to servers without internet access "under specific network conditions" (July 2024) and for crashes when connecting to servers on certain networks (August 2024). Version 5.4.1 added QR codes that take a new user from download straight to a channel.
Limits
A developer's self-written listing, read on 9 October 2026; listings and privacy labels change with each release. The date is the release of version 5.4.1, the newest in the listing's version history. The developer's declarations differ between stores: its Google Play listing (version 5.4.7, updated 17 July 2025, Android 8.0 or later) states that the app collects no data and shares none with third parties, and its privacy policy (last modified 2 July 2024) says location is used, with the app open or in the background, only to trigger audio from venue beacons, and is not stored or shared. User reviews on the listing were not used.
