Summary
An earlier edition of the maker's infrared design guide and user manuals, with its advice on choosing between under-chin and lanyard receivers and on batteries and charging.
Key findings
- Compares its two receiver types: the stethoscope-style receiver worn under the chin "makes it simple to dispense the units and prevents cord tangling" but is uncomfortable for some guests, especially over long periods; the lanyard receiver takes many types of earphones but is more complicated to hand out, and its cords can tangle.
- Gives receiver battery life as about 30 hours on AAA alkaline batteries and about 15 hours on its rechargeable pack, which needs its 8-unit charging station (up to 9 hours to charge), and offers replacement ear tips for the stethoscope receiver.
- Advises ordering neckloops for customers with telecoil hearing aids.
- Specifies the stethoscope receiver's audio response as 63 Hz to 15 kHz (+/- 3 dB) on four carriers (2.3, 2.8, 3.3 and 3.8 MHz), with squelch on loss of signal.
- Gives the same design notes as the maker's 2022 manual: line of sight in open space, wider coverage from light, reflective surfaces, less susceptibility to fluorescent lighting thanks to higher carriers but no immunity to sunlight or plasma displays, and compatibility with other makers' systems on the same carriers.
